Suggested Rides: Around the Front

This classic route will give you a mix of Old Town Victoria and the Dallas Road Waterfront. Departing from our shop at Selkirk Station, head along the Galloping Goose towards town until you reach the Johnson St. Bridge. Cross the bridge and turn right on Wharf St. This will take you along the harbour front and you will be able to see some of the historic buildings of Victoria, including the original immigration building. Turn right on Government St. where you will follow the harbour and pass in front of The Empress Hotel. Enjoy the great view of Victoria's busy Inner Harbour and the flotillas of visiting yachts. Take a right on Belleville St to pass the Parliament Buildings and head towards Fisherman's Wharf, where you can stop for ice cream and buy some fish to feed the seals! Stay on Belleville as it wraps around the edges of the harbour towards Ogden Point, where the harbour opens up to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. As you ride along the seaside on Dallas Rd, you will see the Olympic Mountains across the water in Washington State.

Fill your lungs with fresh air as you peddle your way along the coast past Mile-O of the Trans Canada Highway towards Oak Bay and the Uplands, where some of the most beautiful houses in Victoria decorate the picturesque cliffs of the southern tip of Vancouver Island. You can follow this course through Oak Bay passing beautiful bays and marinas to Cadboro Bay Village then onward to Mount Doug Park with panoramic views of the Gulf Islands. Upon reaching Royal Oak Avenue cyclists head for Lochside Elementary School then turn right onto the Lochside Trail, which will take you back to Victoria through the Blenkinsop Valley. All to soon you will be crossing the Selkirk Trestle back to Selkirk Station. Ride is approximately 50kms. 2.5 - 3.5 hours depending on speed.
